英國財政大臣夏文達（Philip Hammond）在伯明翰保守黨年會上對英國廣播公司（BBC）表示，英國政府必須放棄實現收支平衡的目標，並創造「審慎、針對性」投資應對脫歐帶來經濟衝擊：「我們聽到有些企業推遲到英投資的消息，如果我們不進行及時推行政策抵消脫歐影響，會影響英國人就業。」

夏文達補充，雖然英國近期經濟表現強勁此乎未受脫歐影響，但一旦英國於2017年4月前啟動脫歐程序，當地企業可能到時才真正感受衝擊。
